1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard „Paulette“
Gibson Les Paul Standard Sunburst is the pinnacle of all solid body electric guitars. It is the most sought after, the most collected vintage guitar in existence. The alur of its sound and playability captivated rock icons, such as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Paul McCartney and Duane Allman. This guitar was nick-named “Paulette”.
The instrument was previously owned by a Dutch artist and played in numerous bands and studio projects. He brought it over from the United States personally while he was touring there In the early 80″. He got it from a Studio Guitarist in Nashville while they were playing together.
The guitar was partly refinished in a not very tasty way and needed a refrett job. Some original parts were missed already then. The guitar sounded incredible good. | decided to buy the guitar once | got the chance and nick-named it “Paulette”. The neck profile has a nice comfortable round shape. | would callit a medium; it is not too big, but stronger than a 60″ shape.
Florian Jager from Oberstdorf near Munich, a reputated guitar luthier, has used innovative techniques to get the desired restorations. The Top Face had some minor discoloration spots Cosmetic highlights were done with his head, heart and hands and so he revitalized the Beauty of this Burst back to original glory with original Gibson Formula laquer.
Original serial number still present. The weight is 3,9 kg/8,59 lbs. All parts are period correct. The only exception are the 2 cream pickup rings which are the best available repro in the market. Made out of unmistakable butyrate material (which smell as original 59 do) with correct mold markings; difficult enough to be identified as non-original. The PAF pickup covers have been removed once. The bridge pickup reads at 7,99k Ohm and the neckpickup reads at 7,63k Ohm. (Both have double Black Bobbins). Both PAF’s Baseplate legs have had a small side cut. Tuners, plastic parts, PAF pickups, pots (all 4 dated with 134 9 07), caps (Bumble Bee’s), wires, pointer washers, 3-way toggle tip, non-wire ABR1 bridge, stop bar. Everything is there and original. The case is a period correct Lifton and correct brown 5-Latch hard shell case. Only two tuner tulips were replaced due to shrinkage.
The guitar is a late 50th area Gibson Les Paul Standard that plays and sounds excellent which will provide confidence to any new prospective owner and increase value for the future.
