1969 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop

Here’s an affordable late-’60s P-90 Goldtop from the so-called “Middle Series.”

Built in June/July 1969, with serial number 818007 and pot code 1376852 (week 52 of 1968).
Still featuring the transition tenon with a long “T” tenon body.

  • One-piece mahogany body with maple topno pancake body

  • Three-piece mahogany neck with the large headstock

  • No volute, no “Made in USA” stamp

  • Gibson logo with open “b” and open “o”, and no dot on the “i” (typical for 1968–1969)

Pickups: both P-90s with clear bobbins

  • Neck: 7.78 kΩ

  • Bridge: 8.18 kΩ

Great weight at only 4.28 kg, which is light for this era.
Original first frets, CTS pots (week 52 of 1968), and 2x black Sprague capacitors.
Correct Kluson double-line / double-ring tuners.

Cosmetically: beautiful slightly greenish patina on the body. Overall very well cared for and in a clean condition.
The gold finish still looks great, with a warmth reminiscent of the ’50s Goldtops.

Tone & playability: excellent sound and very easy to play — in line with the classic ’56/’57 P-90 Vintage Goldtop tone.
Perfect neck profile, rosewood fretboard with crown inlays, and gold reflector knobs.

Special detail: no factory “Les Paul” script on the top, but it does have a factory vintage “Les Paul” engraved truss rod cover.
Some guitars in the 81–820000 serial range came with this exact feature.
Did Gibson temporarily run out of Les Paul script logos before shipping? There’s no official explanation.

Comes with a very cool black tolex Gibson case with yellow lining, 3-latch square case, in excellent condition.

From September 1969, the first mini-humbuckers and the Les Paul Deluxe were introduced as successor models.
